Dear Proctor Penguins and Families,

It was a wonderful week at Proctor and such a fun way to wrap it up! Many of our students joined Mr. Doherty for a special activity, while others took part in our Halloween Parade. Regardless of how students chose to celebrate, it was a joyful day for all. A big thank-you to the families who came out to cheer and wave. It was great seeing so many smiling faces!

Speaking of Halloween... Please remember that students should not share or swap food at school. Many children have food allergies, and we want to make sure everyone stays safe and healthy. This includes Halloween candy and other special treats.

While we don’t specify what types of snacks families should send, we encourage choices that help students sustain energy and focus throughout the day. Snacks with a balance of carbohydrates, protein, and fiber can help students feel their best, while those high in sugar may cause quick bursts of energy followed by a drop in focus.

We recognize that every family’s circumstances are different and appreciate your efforts to send what works best for your child. Thank you for helping us keep all of our Penguins safe, healthy, and ready to learn! As a reminder, The Northborough Southborough Public Schools remains to free and dependable source for healthy meals. Please see the attached flyer for information about local food resources.

Thank you, as always, for your continued partnership and for all you do to support our Proctor Penguins.

What Is a Proctor Penguin Huddle?

Our Proctor Penguin Huddle is a schoolwide gathering that brings our students and staff together to celebrate community, kindness, and The Penguin Way : Take Care of Ourselves, Take Care of Each Other, and Take Care of Our School.

Throughout the year, each grade level will lead a Penguin Huddle on a topic of their choosing, such as kindness, gratitude, teamwork, or belonging. Huddles typically last about 15–25 minutes and may include student highlights/ VIP Penguin recognitions and a little Proctor spirit.

This year, we’re excited to invite parents and caregivers to join the audience when their child’s grade level is leading the Huddle. Classroom teachers will share dates and times in advance so families can plan ahead.

It’s a wonderful opportunity to see our community in action and celebrate our Penguins together!

Waddling with Waddles- Parent/ Caregiver Volunteers Needed

We’re excited to share a new monthly tradition...Waddling with Waddles Wednesday! Beginning in November, on the first Wednesday of each month, instead of outdoor recess in the morning, we’ll gather as a school community to walk around the building from 8:10–8:25 (ending when the bell rings and line up accordingly). This will be similar in spirit to our Walk to School events and will provide us with another fun and healthy way to start the day together.

This is a wonderful opportunity to build school spirit, model healthy habits, and remind students of the Penguin Way: taking care of ourselves, each other, and our school.

The Proctor PTO is reaching out to families to ask for parent volunteers to help with supervision. We are asking for about 8 parent/caregivers to provide supervision around various areas of the school. If you are interested either reach out to Proctorpto@gmail.com or email me (smahoney@nsboro.k12.ma.us). Our first Waddling with Waddles will be this Wednesday!!!! As a reminder, all volunteers must have a completed CORI. Thanks so much for helping continue to build community at Proctor!

Parent/ Caregiver Dismissal REMINDER

For everyone’s safety and to keep things running smoothly, please stay in your car while in the dismissal line. If you need to help your child with their car seat, pull forward to the area where the vans typically park before getting out. Thank you for helping us keep dismissal safe and efficient for all of our Penguins!
