Dear Proctor Penguins and Families,

As we honor Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. this week, our school community is reflecting on one of his most well-known messages, written while he was jailed for peacefully protesting unfair laws:
“Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere".

At Proctor, we explore this idea in age-appropriate ways. For children, it means understanding that even small moments matter. When someone is hurt or something feels unfair, even if it seems minor, ignoring it doesn’t make it go away. Small problems can grow when they go unaddressed. When we listen, share, and work through things together, we help strengthen our whole community.

This week, classrooms will engage in community-building circles focused on listening, sharing, and caring for one another. These conversations help students practice empathy, understand different perspectives, and learn how to address challenges together in respectful ways.

We see this as one way we continue to live out Dr. King’s message, not just through words, but through our daily actions and relationships.

Ask your child:
What does it mean to listen when someone else is sharing?
Why is it important to talk about things that feel unfair or hurtful?

Thank you for your continued partnership and support.

School Attendance Parent Workshop

Join Family Success Partnership (FSP) for a district-wide parent workshop focused on empowering families and strengthening students’ connection to school. This will include practical strategies, communication tools, and community resources to help students develop consistent and confident school attendance. We’ll explore supportive approaches and collaborate on ways to help every student feel engaged and ready to attend. All parents and caregivers are welcome!

The Family Success Partnership (FSP) is a school-based wraparound program that collaborates with districts to connect their students and families with a range of essential services, both during and outside the school day. FSP clinicians support families in overcoming systemic barriers and access to services through clinical assessment, direct referral support, application assistance, therapeutic intervention, and parent psychoeducation that lead to family empowerment, student success and access to sustainable resources in their community.

Date: January 28, 2026
Time: 9:30 am-11:00 am
Location: Northborough Public Library Community Room
*Please register by January 26, 2026.
*This workshop will not be recorded.

3rd Grade Violin Families

Dear Violin Families,

The 3rd Grade Winter Violin Concert is coming up in February! Violinists should be practicing at
home to make this event a success. Please take time to review the guidelines below with your child
to help this event run smoothly.
The 3rd Grade Winter Violin Concert will be held on Thursday, February 12th at 6:30 PM in the
Lincoln Street School Gym. Students are asked to wear nice concert attire (no sweatpants, logos,
jeans).
Violinists are asked to arrive by 5:45 PM to tune and warm up their instruments for the concert.
The gym entrance is by the back loop of the Lincoln Street parking lot. Students need their
instruments and bows only (no folders, stands etc.). Students will be sent to rooms to unpack by
school (Zeh to Music Room. Proctor to Library. Peaslee to Art Room. Lincoln Street to room
187). We will then have a quick play-through in the gym as a whole group. Doors will open to
audience members at 6:15 PM.
I’m looking forward to a wonderful evening of violin music!

NSBORO Reads

NSBORO Read- Click HERE! As we continue in our efforts to promote a strong culture of reading at school and at home, we’re excited about the community-wide initiatives this year that help ignite students’ enthusiasm for reading.

In September, our district librarians launched a reading program that invited students and community members to explore a variety of books centered around monthly themes. This program has been a great way to build excitement around reading and to encourage students to make reading a regular part of life at home. On February 3rd, school librarians will host a Community Celebration at the Algonquin Library from 5:30–7:30 p.m. This fun, student-friendly event will celebrate the reading students and community members have done so far and encourage continued participation in this year’s reading challenge.

Additionally, the Northborough Public Library will host a Winter Reading Kickoff that will take place during school for students in Grades K–5, culminating with an additional special event on June 27th.

Whether students are eager readers or still finding their way, our focus is on helping every child grow as a reader. By encouraging reading both at school and at home, and through our community-wide initiatives, we aim to help every student build a meaningful, everyday reading routine.
