Dear Proctor Penguins and Families,

We want to give a big shout-out to our second graders and Mrs. Mara and Mrs. Brochu for leading our most recent whole-school Penguin Huddle focused on acts of kindness. Photo of the Huddle is featured above. They did a wonderful job helping our entire school community reflect on what it means to live the Penguin Way by taking care of ourselves, each other, and our school. Thank you as well to the families who were able to join us. It meant so much to have you there and to share this special moment together.

Although it was a short week due to the snow, it was still full of meaningful learning and connection. We are looking forward to a full week ahead and all that it will bring.

Thank you for your continued partnership and support. This weekly newsletter will outline the following updates:
  • Save the Date
  • Dimissal Reminders
  • NSBORO Reads
  • 3rd Grade String Concert
  • MCAS Dates
  • Family Resources
  • PTO
  • NSPAC

Respectfully,
Stacy Mahoney and the Proctor Team

Dismissal Reminders

Dismissal Notes
To help us ensure a smooth and safe dismissal process, please send any dismissal notes to the Proctor attendance email address by 2:00 p.m. Thank you for helping us plan ahead and support students during this busy part of the day.

Dismissal Safety Reminder
As a reminder, students are not able to walk independently to the sidewalk on Jefferson Road. Walkers and parent pick-up students must remain on the sidewalk directly in front of the school doors until a parent or caregiver walks up or drives up to pick them up. This helps us keep all children safe, especially as cars are moving through the loop during dismissal. We appreciate your cooperation and support in keeping dismissal safe and consistent for everyone.

NSBORO Reads

NSBORO Read- Click HERE! As we continue in our efforts to promote a strong culture of reading at school and at home, we’re excited about the community-wide initiatives this year that help ignite students’ enthusiasm for reading.

In September, our district librarians launched a reading program that invited students and community members to explore a variety of books centered around monthly themes. This program has been a great way to build excitement around reading and to encourage students to make reading a regular part of life at home. On February 3rd, school librarians will host a Community Celebration at the Algonquin Library from 5:30–7:30 p.m. This fun, student-friendly event will celebrate the reading students and community members have done so far and encourage continued participation in this year’s reading challenge.

Additionally, the Northborough Public Library will host a Winter Reading Kickoff that will take place during school for students in Grades K–5, culminating with an additional special event on June 27th.

Whether students are eager readers or still finding their way, our focus is on helping every child grow as a reader. By encouraging reading both at school and at home, and through our community-wide initiatives, we aim to help every student build a meaningful, everyday reading routine.

Spirit Wear Collection

We are excited to share that Northborough Public Schools is hosting a Spirit Clothing Drive from January 15 through February 15. Families are invited to donate gently used school spirit wear to be reused or repurposed. Items can be dropped off at any Northborough Public School. If you need assistance with pick-up, please reach out using the contact information on the flyer. Thank you for supporting sustainability and helping keep school spirit going strong across our community.
