Dear Proctor Penguins and Families,

Parent–teacher conferences are coming up this Thursday. They are an important opportunity for families and teachers to connect around a shared goal: supporting your child’s growth as a learner and member of our school community.

In the spirit of belonging and mutual voice, conferences are meant to be a conversation; not just a time for teachers to share updates, but also a space for families to share insights about their child. You know your child in ways that are incredibly valuable to their teacher, and those perspectives help us better support students at school.

To help make the most of your conference time, you might consider coming with a few questions or reflections such as:
  • What strengths do you see in my child as a learner or classmate?
  • What is something my child is currently working on or building toward?
  • How does my child approach challenges or difficult tasks?
  • How does my child participate and collaborate with peers?
  • What are some ways we can support learning or independence at home?

We also encourage families to share their own observations, such as:
  • things your child is excited about at school
  • any challenges you are noticing at home
  • questions about friendships, confidence, or learning habits

When families and educators share perspectives openly, we create a stronger partnership that helps every child feel supported, understood, and connected. We look forward to these conversations and to continuing our work together to support your child’s learning and sense of belonging at school.

As always, thank you for your partnership and for being such an important part of our Proctor community. The months ahead may move quickly, but they will be filled with learning, belonging, and celebration.

Together we live the Penguin Way by taking care of ourselves, each other, and our school.
